Commercial Horticulture
Commercial Horticulture
The horticulture industry in Lorain amounts to $62,657,000 (2002 ODA Ag Statistics Annual Report) with most of the sales coming from nursery and green house crops. Tree and small fruit also contribute a portion of that income. Lorain ranks second in the state for horticulture crops. The mild climate and lake sand ridges of Lake Erie contribute to some of the fine growing conditions. The Ohio State University has placed a Horticultural Educator and a Horticultural Program Assistant to assist the commercial and homeowner clients.
