Animal Skillathons (All animal species skillathons except: dog, cat, and small-animals: i.e. pocket pets, hamsters, mice, self-determined small animals) .
Saturday, July 18th
Judging will be from 9:00-11:30 a.m.
Lorain County JVS, 15181 St. Rt. 58, Oberlin.
Topics that may be part of the skillathons include:
- Identification of wholesale and retail meat cuts
- Identification of animal parts
- Breed identification
- Feed identification
- Medication label identification
- Tack/equipment identification
- Diseases
- Animal ID (ex. ear notching)
- Breeding and reproductive systems
- Housing/husbandry
- Completion of projects book and records to date
- Knowledge form the resource/project book and skillathon kits
- The 4-H pledge or FFA pledge
Bring your FFA/4-H record books. Refer to the Junior Fair Premium Book pages 12, 77-79 for details and information.
Though skillathon is not mandatory for exhibitors this year, we strongly encourage participation! It is a fun way to show off all that you have learned!
For those exhibitors going for the Premier Exhibitor Award, skillathon is required.
