4-H Shooting Sports Project Requirements

  1. Sign-up for a shooting sports project when you complete your enrollment form with your 4-H club.
  1. Purchase your 4-H Shooting Sports Project Book.
  1. Turn in the following required forms and fees at the Shooting Sports Open House OR the OSU Extension office.
  1. Attend the Shooting Sports Open House and Safety Meeting March 29, 2025, 1:00 pm at the Ag Center (42110 Russia Rd. Elyria, OH). All youth and a parent MUST attend a general safety meeting before they will be able to attend a practice. If you have missed the orientation, please contact the instructor that you are interested in working with to schedule a make-up.
  1. TEXT 4-H’ers name, club and discipline to the phone number listed for the practice you are interested FIVE (5) days prior to the practice. This will ensure that we maintain safe instructor/youth ratios. TEXT will be used to communicate location and any changes in the practice time. YOU MAY NOT JUST SHOW UP TO A PRACTICE WITHOUT TEXTING THE INSTRUCTOR FIRST
  1. Equipment:
    1. Youth MUST bring their required safety equipment as instructed at the safety meeting.
    2. First preference is for youth to use Lorain County 4-H shooting sport bows/firearms (preferred).
    3. Youth MAY bring their own bows/firearms. All bows/firearms must pass a safety inspection by the instructor prior to use at each practice.
    4. All consumables- ammunition, targets, etc. are provided by Lorain County 4-H Shooting Sports program.
