4-H Advisory Board Meetings

The major function of the County 4-H Advisory Committee is to review and study the general youth needs, interest and concerns.   

  • Analyze and study the potential youth population and the current enrollment in 4-H programs on a nondiscriminatory basis  
  • Assist in developing objectives and goals of the 4-H program to meet the needs, interest, and concerns of youth in the county
  • Assist in designating methods of enrolling youth in 4-H programs
  • Assist in developing methods to recruit, train, and recognize adult volunteer 4-H advisors, key leaders, and 4-H committee members
  • Analyze and assist in developing plans and procedures to expand 4-H and youth development to new audiences  
  • Keep accurate minutes for use by members and to keep on file in the County Extension Office.  These are also available towards the botton of this page.   

 Lorain County 4-H Advisory assists with:

  • 4-H promotional booths at Community events & festivals
  • 4-H Officers & Volunteer Trainings
  • 4-H Open House
  • 4-H Family Orientation
  • Milk Barn at the Lorain County Fair
  • County Awards 
  • Annual 4-H Volunteer Recognition Program

 

Membership

Advisory members are elected to the board using the following process:

  1. Nominations may be made by any current Lorain County 4-H volunteer in September.  2024 Nomination Form 
  2. Electronic ballots are e-mailed to all current Lorain County 4-H volunteers in October.
  3. Election results are announced at the Annual Volunteer Recognition program generally the 3rd Thursday in October.

Youth Representatives

Youth representatives may apply to serve a one-year term.  Applications are due before January 30th.

Annual Award Applications

The Advisory Board recognized the following awards at the annual Volunteer Recognition Program in October each year.  WInners at the county level are submitted for consideration at the state level.  State award winners are recognized at the Ohio Volunteer Conference in March.   

Award applicationa and niminations are due September 8th. No emailed applications will be accepted per Advisory Committees rules. Paper copy only.
